Junior Consultant for Project Acquisition

The Center for Evaluation and Development in Mannheim, Germany, is looking for a Junior Consultant for Project Acquisition to join its team working on impact evaluation in developing countries.

With a strong focus on quantitative impact evaluations in developing countries we are one of the leading research centers in the areas of poverty reduction, microfinance, health insurance, education, humanitarian assistance, and nutrition in Germany. Our vision is to improve the lives of the poor and the vulnerable by making development interventions more effective. We are currently conducting projects all over the world and maintains research relationships with 3ie, ACTED, IFAD, ILO, IPA, J-PAL, the World Bank, and UNICEF to name just a few of our cooperation partners.

Your tasks as a Junior Consultant for Project Acquisition would include:

  • Contributing to proposal development and acquisition for various donors, e.g. World Bank, 3ie, GIZ and other
  • Preparation of Expressions of Interest or other pre-qualification documents and proposals
  • Coordinating project proposal writing including own contributions to project proposals
  • Communicating and liaising with project partners and donors
  • Quality Management and continuous improvement of project acquisition process
  • Managing documents and databases
  • Support in report writing
  • Contributing to Public Relations, including short translations

You have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in economics, statistics or social science with experience in quantitative analysis. You are interested in gaining first-hand experience in the field of impact evaluations and development economics and already have a good understanding of the required or related fields.

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably in French as well, with a high attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. Knowledge of common statistics software packages (e.g. STATA) is a plus.

While you will be working in a team, you are able to manage multiple tasks. You enjoy interacting with a wide range of individuals ranging from researchers to donors and local partners, and you are able to maintain good collaborations. If required, willingness to travel to research project sites is a necessity.

The position offers a good opportunity to gain experience in impact evaluations and public relations. We are interested to offer you a long-term job perspective including personnel development. The position is based in Mannheim, Germany.
