Education
Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, fostering economic stability, and expanding opportunities. We evaluate education interventions that seek to improve school and teacher attendance, enhance teaching quality, and promote inclusive and healthy educational environments. Our portfolio includes evaluations of early childhood education, literacy, teacher training and professional development interventions.

Health & Nutrition
Good health and nutrition are fundamental to human development, yet many communities worldwide still lack access to clean water, stable food resources, or adequate healthcare. At C4ED, we assess interventions designed to tackle malnutrition, improve healthcare access, and promote healthier lifestyles. Our evaluations also bridge the gap between gender and healthcare, covering maternal and child health, access to sexual and reproductive health, and early childhood development interventions.

Labour and Entrepreneurship
Access to (decent) employment, especially among youth, remains a significant challenge in many economies in the global South. At C4ED, we have extensive experience evaluating interventions that seek to improve employment opportunities and foster entrepreneurship. This includes assessments of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), public works, labor market intermediation services, and comprehensive business development support interventions.

Gender Equality
While significant progress has been made toward gender equality, persistent gaps remain, characterized by underrepresentation, limited autonomy, and harmful stereotypes. At C4ED, we evaluate gender-focused interventions, assessing how they effectively promote equal rights and opportunities within communities and households. We have specific experience with interventions that are gender-transformative, promote women’s economic empowerment, and address gender-based violence.

Migration
Migration is a complex global phenomenon often driven by conflicts, climate change, and economic instability. At C4ED, we evaluate interventions aiming at improving the livelihoods and integration of vulnerable migrants and host communities. We identify solutions that promote migrants’ access to essential services, labor markets, and social inclusion, covering interventions that support refugees, returning migrants, and internally displaced persons.

Climate Change
Climate change is a pressing global challenge affecting everything from agriculture to natural disasters and climate-induced migration. Addressing these consequences requires collaborative and sustainable solutions. At C4ED, we evaluate climate change adaptation and mitigation interventions that build resilience in vulnerable communities. Our evaluations help improve interventions designed to reduce climate risks and promote long-term environmental sustainability. We have vast experience in evaluating interventions promoting disaster risk reduction and climate-smart agricultural strategies as well as sustainable land management.

Finance
Access to inclusive financial services is a key driver of economic empowerment, enabling individuals to save, invest in income-generating activities, manage risks, and build resilience. At C4ED, our work aims to identify innovative solutions that improve access to credit, savings, and insurance services. We evaluate a variety of interventions such as savings groups (e.g., SILCs), microfinance institutions, micro-insurance schemes, and financial literacy trainings.

Agriculture
Agriculture plays a crucial role in global food security, economic development, and sustainable supply chains. At C4ED, we evaluate agricultural interventions dedicated to improving farming techniques, increasing food production, and supporting rural development. We emphasize sustainable practices that enhance productivity while ensuring the well-being of farming communities. Our evaluations cover climate-smart agriculture, value chain development, and farmer field schools’ interventions.

Livelihoods
Poverty remains one of the biggest global challenges, limiting access to resources, opportunities, and basic services. At C4ED, we evaluate interventions aiming at breaking the cycle of poverty and improving livelihoods, often with a focus on marginalized populations such as refugees, internally displaced persons and women.

Social Protection
Robust social protection systems provide essential safety nets for vulnerable populations, shielding them from shocks and reducing chronic poverty. At C4ED, we evaluate the impact of various social welfare mechanisms aimed at reducing poverty and inequality. Our work includes rigorous assessments of cash transfer (conditional and unconditional), social insurance schemes, and broader social welfare interventions.
