Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a workshop on “Data Collection and Analysis Capacity Development” in Addis Ababa from December 5-7. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all participants for their valuable engagement and contributions to the event.
The workshop, organized under the Learning-Oriented Real-Time Impact Assessment (LORTA) program, brought together more than 40 experts in the field of impact evaluation methods, data collection, data quality, analysis, and monitoring and evaluation. The three-day event was filled with highly inspirational and interactive sessions on these topics, providing attendees with the opportunity to share knowledge and experience.
The project teams of the Green Climate Fund also participated in customized group discussions led by evaluation experts from the Independent Evaluation Unit, Green Climate Fund (IEU) and C4ED covering topics based on their individual project needs, e.g., preparation of a data collection, survey questionnaires, identifying target groups for data collection, getting an ethical clearance. The workshop promoted fruitful discussions among project teams sharing their experiences and discussing technical topics.
LORTA is an innovative program that uses impact evaluation techniques, a specific type of evaluation based on causal inference, to help project teams understand which activities are working, which are most efficient, and which approaches to scale up. This program is designed to improve the effectiveness of projects and ultimately contribute to reducing poverty and promoting sustainable development.
